Location: Lunenburg, Nova Scotia
Dates of Employment: Dates of Employment: June 21 – July 11 (3 weeks), possible prolongation in case the program gets more students
Schedule: 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and caring Cook to prepare daily meals for a group of international students aged 12–15 participating in a summer program in Lunenburg, NS. The ideal candidate can plan balanced menus, shop for groceries, and cook nutritious meals that accommodate diverse preferences and basic dietary restrictions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve three meals daily for a maximum of 12 students and 1 staff.
- Plan weekly menus with a focus on balanced, kid-friendly, international-friendly meals.
- Purchase groceries and supplies within a provided budget.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and food preparation area.
- Follow all food safety, storage, and sanitation guidelines.
- Accommodate common dietary needs (vegetarian, no pork, lactose-free, etc.).
- Coordinate meal times with program staff.
- Track receipts and manage simple meal budget records.
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle (required for grocery runs).
- Experience cooking for groups or in a camp/school/hospitality environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to create simple, nutritious, and appealing meals for youth.
- Food safety certification (or willingness to obtain before program start).
- Strong communication and reliability.
Compensation:
- Competitive weekly rate (to be discussed during interview).
- Groceries, gas, and supplies fully reimbursed.
Compensation
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
